Six designs for the new website
These are drafts. None of them is live, and some photos and details still need checking. Each one carries the same information: rooms, check-in, the FAQ and longer stays. What changes is how it looks and feels.
Please look at each one on your phone and on a computer, then send Robbie your answers to the questions at the bottom.

01
Warm and handmade
The logo's blue and orange, a collage of photos, and a sticky note counting down to tonight's pudding. It has a summer and a winter version.
-
02
The current site, done properly
The same logo, colours and hand-lettered headings as today's website, with a cleaner layout and newer photos.
-
03
Wooden letter tiles
Dark and cosy, inspired by Kex Hostel in Reykjavík. On a computer, move the mouse over the letter tiles.
-
04
Painted walls
Each section is painted in one of the hostel's own wall colours, with every photo hung in a white frame.
-
05
The over-the-top one
A live pot of self-saucing pudding. Press “Play 8pm service” to serve a bowl yourself. Best on a computer.
-
06
The safe one
The most conventional option, built from what real hostel websites have in common.
What we'd like to know
- Which two designs would you take forward, and why?
- For each design, one thing to keep and one thing to drop.
- Is anything wrong: times, rooms, what's included? Is anything missing that guests often ask about?
- Imagine you're a backpacker seeing it for the first time on your phone. Which one would make you book?
Even better: show the first screen of each design to a couple of guests staying this week, and ask them question 4.
